The empirical study of this object are held in requalifications squares of the Historic Center of the city of João Pessoa. Therefore, shall be deemed to limit the geographic scope of tipping IPHAN established in 2007, covering thirteen squares, of which six will be used as sampling the "way of thinking" intervention required here in decades: 1980 to 2010. Thus highlight, in the first moment requalifications driven to Square São Francisco and Square Dom Adauto, between the decades from 1980 to 1990; then the Antenor Navarro Square, between 1990-2000, and finally, in 2000, the Square Rio Branco, Vidal de Negreiros and Venancio Neiva. The impact of each action on these public open spaces emphasizes not only the importance of each, but also highlights cases in which we believe that such systematic "way of thinking" historical heritage and with regard to interventions in Historic Centers.
