Resumo: This thesis whose title is Woman, work and family: discursive games and memory network in media is inserted in Discourse Analysis in its French tradition. Based on Foucault‟s contributions, this study field and its interdisciplinarity provides a dialogue with cultural studies, history and media studies, whose main aim is to describe/interpret, in media discourse, memory movements in relation to women with work and family. It is investigated here the genre relations in public and private spaces as well, and the conflicts faced by woman in her relation between marriage/maternity x carrier. To develop this study, it was designed the following research question: In which way it is delineated in media the history of woman as worker and her relation with work market and her family, if taken into account woman identity constitution from memory movements? To answer the question, it was developed a methodological course in order to investigate memory movements in woman as worker in identity constitution in contemporaneity. Such course demanded a definition of the thematic route woman, work and family , in history as told by media, followed by issues that guide archive construction and corpus delimitation: 1) woman and work market; 2) working woman and her genre relations and 3) working woman and family construction. In order to historicize the events related to this theme, an archive was constituted, in its materiality, in several discursive genres, such as advertisements, articles, propagandas, charges, songs, magazine covers, news to construct social imaginary about what is said in media discourse. From this archive, many texts, represent different approached periods (between 19th and 21st Centuries), and are used, along the work, to discuss on commented moments and to recognize different subject positions and their discursive practices, selected to constitute the corpus for this thesis, six articles (magazines texts) that discuss the chosen theme. Those articles were taken from the following printed magazines: Veja Mulher, Claudia and Você S/A. The investigation, in media discourse, memory networks and discursive games points out the woman as worker. It was identified that, among other results, media has a mediator role between the event and society which uses reality and the imaginary to impose its will of truth and to act as power mechanism to constitute woman identity in contemporaneity.
