Resumo: Introduction: Population aging is a worldwide occurrence with progressive growth, beginning in Western European countries in the late 19th century, increasing in developed countries, and in recent decades, also affecting developing countries. Aging is a complex process, and although aging and illness are not synonymous, it is a biopsychosocial process characterized by anatomical, psychological, and physiological changes that make older adults more vulnerable to the onset of various diseases. Certain hematological disorders such as hemochromatosis, polycythemia vera, and cutaneous porphyria can develop in the elderly population and therapeutic phlebotomy is the treatment of choice for these conditions. Therapeutic phlebotomy, also known as bloodletting, is a blood therapy procedure that involves the removal of blood with the purpose of treating and preventing various toxic conditions in the body. Objectives: To construct and validate an educational video for the elderly on nursing care during therapeutic phlebotomy. Method: This is a methodological study that was developed in three stages. 1) Elaboration of a scoping review on nursing care before, during, and after therapeutic phlebotomy in older adults; 2) Construction of the video guided by the evidence resulting from the scoping review; 3) Content validation by judges and semantics validation by the elderly. The study involved thirteen judges and seven elderly individuals. The validation period took place between September 18 and December 8, 2023. The validation by judges was conducted using the Google Forms platform with invitations sent via email, and validation by the elderly took place at the Collection and Transfusion Unit in the city of Barra do Garças, Mato Grosso, with data analysis performed using the Content Validity Index. The research was guided by Resolution No. 466, dated December 12, 2012, of the National Health Council of the Ministry of Health, and the Informed Consent Form was used in the validation stages. Results: In the first version of the script with storyboard, the Content Validity Index (CVI) obtained a score of 0.85, with a total of ten scenes. After modifications were made based on the judges' suggestions, a second version of the video was organized and validated by the elderly, obtaining a CVI of 1.00. Discussion: Therapeutic phlebotomy is a treatment that brings benefits by increasing the patient's life expectancy and quality of life through the alleviation of signs and symptoms. The nursing care identified in this study aims to attenuate possible side effects during and after phlebotomy, ensuring greater patient safety. Aging brings about a series of changes and is considered a phase of increased vulnerability, necessitating a differentiated approach to treatment in this patient group. Final considerations: The educational video represents a significant and viable technology for healthcare services and professionals in promoting health literacy among patients. This technology will enable older adults to acquire knowledge of essential care regarding therapeutic phlebotomy, providing greater safety for these individuals, reducing the possibility of developing adverse reactions during or after blood collection, and ensuring the continuity of treatment.
