Introduction: Oral health is an inseparable component of the body health system, able to affect people‟s physical and psychosocial well-being. In elderly person‟s context, especially those who are in functional dependency condition, these care have relation with the preservation of the general health, being the execution of the care actions under responsibility of the caregivers. Although guidelines on body and mouth hygiene are referred in handbooks and booklets for caregivers, it is known the difficulty of access and the low motivation to seek for new knowledge. Objectives: 1- Identify the publications about the knowledge of caregivers about the oral health of the dependent elderly person. 2- Identify how caregivers act regarding to the oral health of dependent elderly people. 3- Develop an educational technology for caregivers on the elderly‟s oral health. Methodological route: This is a methodological study, whose proposal was to construct an educational video with oral health guidelines for caregivers of dependent elderly people. Results and Discussion: Two articles were produced; 1- “Dependent elderly‟s oral health and knowledge of the caregiver: integrative review”, whose findings showed the difficulties faced by caregivers in the provision of oral health practices to the elderly, as well as the deficient training, lack of knowledge, work overload, negative health beliefs and influence of the work process in the execution of these activities. 2- “Educational video for the elderly caregiver: aspects of oral health and hygiene”, which was carried out through the application of a structured questionnaire to caregivers of the elderly people in long-term institutes. From these results, the script of the video was elaborated, which was submitted to the evaluation by a committee composed by three experts, who suggested textual changes, in order to facilitate the understanding of the caregivers when using the technological educational product. After the preparation of the first version, semantic validation will be performed with 10 elderly‟s caregivers, that will approach writing aspects, images presentation, audio content comprehension, appearance and motivation. Final considerations: Literature have shown that elderly‟s caregiver presents difficulties regarding to oral health care of elderly, that influences on the provision of care to the dependent elderly. The research has shown the need of using educational technology to guide caregivers, and the video constitutes a strategy that helps in the content apprehension, by the dynamics of audiovisual resources, with practical demonstration of care behaviors.
