Resumo: | In river environments, bank erosion fits as a natural phenomenon that results from the interaction of the river with its physical limits. There are several factors that influence the variation of the erosion of the bank, such as: the type of land use, texture of the sedimentary material, the vegetation cover and, mainly, the hydraulic force. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of banks in river stretches in the basin of the river Taperoá, from the perspective of the river continuum, emphasizing the evidence of vegetation, hydrological, morphological and sedimentary. The research was developed from a vision of complex environmental systems, aiming to obtain quantitative and qualitative data on the behavior of the semiarid fluvial environment and to provide information for the management of water resources at both the local and regional scales. To reach the proposed purposes, the identification of the waterway performed variety, classification of risk of erosion of banks, hydrology analysis and indication of modification possibilities of lateral resistance. The results revealed six representative stretches for the lateral adjustment dynamics of the Taperoá river. The implementation of the first stage of BANCS methodology allowed to integrate all the faces of resistance (the height of the edge of the groove width, the density of roots of the sedimentary material texture, vegetation cover and angle bank) lateral stability, classify the stretches in different categories of risk of erosion (low, moderate, high and very high).Analysis of flow behavior identified high magnitude flow of events, in which the channel will provide sufficient flow of energy to generate disturbance force, and so make changes in the channel stability. Each section presenting an environmental condition or resistance to absorb this flow of energy, and thus are classified as medium and high low possibility of alterations of its banks. The erosion on banks, have a direct relationship with the vegetation parameters (root coverage and density) and the material that makes up margins, they showed even greater weight in resistance rating. The vegetation and especially their roots have a importance in increasing the bank stability and increased resistance against the actions of the flow because they provide additional reinforcement for cohesive of unconsolidated bank. Environmental management and planning in semi-arid rivers that seek to promote the conservation of the riparian environment, especially in river stretches that present less cohesive on their banks. |
