Resumo: Reflections present in this text about the political participation of women in the legislature in three cities in Ceará region Cariri. I intend here the idea of a rigid political field marked historically as own space of male action, in this context, women's participation is presented as an applicant for recognition of a legitimate genre while possessing qualities to be in politics. The objective of the research was to understand barriers to effective political participation of women and how they perceive themselves in that specific field. What ended up was inferred that these women overcome the barriers of politics as being one among many who have to face, if constructed as worthy and qualified to represent his people, and credited it to their own gender status. Thereby before the departure from formal politics is what legitimizes this field: their feminine qualities. For that they make it possible to negotiate a woman, learning the rules of the field while creating new ways of being there.
