Resumo: This dissertation is situated in the concentration area of Literature, Culture and Translation, within the research line of Classical and Medieval studies. Its corpus is the Cantar de Mío Cid and revolves around the hypothesis: is the Cantar De Mío Cid only an allegory to the life of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar and to all that his chivalric imaginary represents? Or do they contain a diluted critique of the Castilian social rigidity of that medieval context? This aspect is skillfully covered up by the jogler and his discursive capacities in the work. In this reflection we analyze the historical and cultural context together with several fragments of the work that point to our major question previously mentioned, where the Cid Campeador and his collaborators are shown as evidences of the mobility of the society. In this study, it is observed that the corpus contains criticism of the society of its context, encouraged individuals to reflect, and should not be considered only as a work of exaltation of chivalric imagery through a mythified hero. As theoretical reference, one has mainly the contributions of Carlos Blanco Aguinaga (1976); Francisco López Estrada (1983); Jaume Aurell (2006) with the analytical method of nuevo medievalismo; Pierre Bourdieu (1996) and the formation of identities; and Jonathan Culler (1999) and the literary field, guide this study.
