Resumo: Introduction: Technological advancement has assumed an important role in the daily life of the globalized world, and this importance becomes more evident with the development of new technologies. The elderly population resisted for some time without using the devices, but with the advancement of the facilities that they promoted for the population began to become familiar with some digital technologies, such as computers, tablets, mobile phones, therefore their applications. Objectives: to analyze the opinions of elderly people from the Instituto Paraibano de Envelhecimento - IPE, about learning the English language through an applica-tion; to identify the scientific evidence on the use of digital technologies by the elderly for learning the English language; to build a mobile application in English language. Method: this is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, organized in three stages: the first in-vestigated the scientific evidence on the use of digital technologies by the elderly for learning the English language; the second stage comprised a survey on the opinions of the elderly about learning English through an application; in the third stage, a technological application for teaching English to the elderly was built. Results and Discussion: The data obtained from the 32 articles comprised in the last ten years, in which it was observed a satisfactory interac-tion on the part of the elderly in relation to the digital technologies and expressed the need for further guidance for better knowledge and handling of these tools. In stage two, the research was carried out through an online questionnaire with 53 elderly people. The data were analys-ed from a simple thematic categorization that pointed out three thematic categories contem-plating the answers of the elderly about the learning of the English language through an appli-cation, as follows: a) positive dimensions for the use of technologies in the learning of the English language according to the elderly; b) negative dimensions for the use of technologies in the learning of the English language and, c) neutral dimensions according to the elderly of the study. The results obtained in the first two stages of the study contributed to the deve-lopment of an application for the Android system CogMemo Play, in the British English lan-guage, covering the three skills of writing, reading and listening. Final Considerations: From the understood results it was developed an application that will corroborate in the education, regarding the teaching of the English language, for elderly people. This application can be used in the classroom as a complementary resource in strategies for teaching English to the elderly.
