Resumo: Digital games are multimedia artefacts that conquered players around the world, creating a global industry that moves billions financially. The permanence of a game company at the top of the success depends on the way it renews and make continuous development, as with the Final Fantasy franchise. Created about thirty years ago, the Final Fantasy franchise it has been renewing itself and incorporating the technological innovations, through the redesign process. The objective of this dissertation is to present a study on the redesign process in the different versions of Final Fantasy, from which it is demonstrated how this process is fundamental for the longevity of a digital game. As a methodological procedure, the research was based on a case study in four games of the main series of Final Fantasy of the genre Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) and versions of these games launched for several platforms. Among the results achieved, we can point out the grouping and categorization of redesign processes in digital games, tracing how these changes were made, in which aspects of the game were made and in some cases, why they were made.
