Resumo: The teaching of topics of Botany, that are viewed on a broad spectrum on textbook, have led to a poor approach, with moments considered uninteresting for students and teachers. From this scenario, differentiated activities were idealized, in order to inform and sensitize the participants about the importance of plants for the maintenance of life and, consequently, improve everyone's interest in Botany. This paper suggests some extracurriculars activities, practices and active methodologies due to the difficulties related to the teaching-learning of Botany in order to improve students' interest in general in this area of knowledge. Developing a teaching that is meaningful, dynamical, contextualized, pleasant, and experimental, that awaken the importance on students of the scientific knowledge of Botany on a daily basis. This paper was carried out at the State School of Primary and Secondary Education Padre Roma, in João Pessoa, Paraiba, having as targeted audience students of the 2nd grade of high school. The activities had the students as protagonists were organized into lecture modules, with actions using active methodologies: interdisciplinary practice on seed germination and the development of plants, the construction of a photographic album from images generated by students, practical classes such as the desiccation of a flower (identifying the floral parts) and the use of educational games (“bio[do]minos”, playing cards, board games). After these activities, a significant change was observed in the students' conceptions regarding botanical subjects, and they were able to recognize that the plants have an important ecological and economical role, as well as to demystify the bad impression previously verified. The students' motivation and interest were visible during the activities, which were effectively translated into positive results such as: a photo library, a photographic album, games, quizzes, besides a booklet detailing the suggested activities, that even were obtained as products in this work.
