Resumo: | The activities developed in the university promote the generation and diffusion of knowledge, pursuing the expansion of democracy as well as meeting social concerns. In order to ratify inclusive practices, the State, through its agencies, and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) carry out public policies and inclusive projects that reach different social classes, bringing education closer to the community as a whole. Thus, HEIs promote projects that also seek to reach Imprisoned People. However, in view of the relevant legislation and social concerns, it is worth investigating how effectively inclusive actions, aimed at this group, materialize in the academic environment, to reaffirm the precepts of the dignity of the human person and contribute to resocialization. This research aimed at analyzing how the projects developed at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) contribute to the effective social reintegration of imprisoned people through education. For this, the present dissertation was developed through bibliographic and documentary research of the practices carried out at UFPB. The methodology was developed around qualitative and descriptive contours. At first, an attempt was made to analyze the historical contextualization of education directed to imprisoned people in Brazil. Then, in the second chapter, the university's social role was addressed, through its activities, in relation to re-education projects. Subsequently, a survey and analysis were carried out on the projects, made by Brazilian HEIs and UFPB, which contribute to the transformation of imprisoned people and their possible return to the social environment. The results of this research aimed to offer inputs that would provide greater institutionalization and the creation of actions or projects aimed at the social reintegration of imprisoned people. The results show that educational projects for people serving a sentence have been developed by UFPB, but they still need to be strengthened in view of the growing demand of the imprisoned population, which can contribute to a greater democratization of education and for the process of social reintegration of this public into the institution. |
