Resumo: The municipality of Princesa Isabel in the Intermediate Geographical Region of Patos faces a process of environmental degradation due to socioeconomic activities mostly associated with agriculture, enhanced by the non-application of management instruments that allow the optimization of territorial planning. Thus, the present research had as general objective to elaborate an environmental zoning proposal for the municipality of Princesa Isabel - PB. Its development occurred through three stages, corresponding to the literature review, field activities, and preparation and organization of results. For the execution of the research were worked on QGIS data of pedology, land use and cover, slope, normalized difference vegetation index, potential and emerging environmental fragility, permanent preservation areas, priority areas for conservation, and environmental zoning. The use and coverage data were analyzed on a time scale, using images from the LANDSAT 5 and 8 satellites for the years 1985, 1998, 2005, 2017, and 2020. The methods adopted for the development of the fragility studies had as reference the models that suggest the hierarchization of the evaluated components and their qualitative-numerical classification. The results obtained show an intense variation in the use and cover of the municipality over the years, with a prevalence of sparse vegetation and sparse vegetation classes, strongly influenced by the development of anthropic activities and rainfall influence. The potential environmental fragility and emerging fragility in the municipality are more expressive in the strong degree and show the role of vegetation cover on the environmental fragility degree, as well as the interaction with the other components of nature. The proposed environmental zoning presents five zones with suggested measures to be implemented and suggested uses.
