Resumo: The fast growth of the fleet of individual automotive vehicles in Brazilian cities, and not accompanied by effective planning, has provided a range of difficulties that directly affect the conditions of displacement of city dwellers and the production and reproduction of the urban space. Campina Grande reproduces this scenario, compounded by the disposition of their morphological structure and dynamics in tissue intraurban. With the consolidation of a road system established in a radial-concentric and the expansion in the number of vehicles in circulation flowing into your central space, which in turn, had not been rethought to meet the demands of today's road traffic, Campina Grande observes a difficult equation to be solved in the reduction of mobility in its central area and with the strongly increasing of the motorized flow. The continued presence of large traffic jams, accidents, lack of parking lots, the deterioration of traffic roads and the wear of the public passenger transport system, are some of the many problems that are potentiated by the lack of proper planning. This study aims to analyze the dynamics and consequences of the fast growth of private vehicles in the central area of Campina Grande, this critical point of the urban fabric of this city.
