Resumo: | Introduction: Chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have become an important health challenge due to morbidity and mortality. Although these diseases are preventable and can cause serious disabilities, they also affect the lifestyle and well-being of individuals, impacting the country's economy. As these are the most common diseases in the elderly and considering the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic and its health problems for the elderly population, research on prevention and health promotion actions is necessary. With the outbreak of the pandemic, caused by Sars Cov-2, Covid-19 has become the main problem worldwide. This situation favors a higher frequency of severe manifestations, the need for admission to Intensive Care Units (ICU) and mortality in elderly patients. Objectives: to investigate scientific evidence on the impact of Covid-19 on elderly people with non-communicable chronic respiratory disease and to propose the construction of an educational video and post-Covid-19 guidelines. Method: this is a methodological study based on the search for scientific evidence on the impact of Covid-19 on elderly people with chronic respiratory disease. Therefore, in the first study, scientific productions were investigated in 2020, in the following databases: CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature), EMBASE, SCOPUS, MEDLINE/Pubmed (via National Library of Medicine) and Web of Science. In the second study, the databases consulted were: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Scopus, Web of Science and the Online Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System (MEDLINE/PubMed). From the scientific evidences of the two studies, an educational video was built with post-Covid-19 guidelines and care for elderly people. Results: there was a high mortality rate of patients aged 80 years or more with Covid-19, in which most of these elderly patients had atypical symptoms; others manifested minor clinical symptoms and atypical changes in chest computed tomography images. Infected elderly people had a high proportion of severe cases and comorbidities, a higher probability of having low immune function, and a higher proportion of complications indicated during the course of the infection. The assessment of lung function showed that a considerable proportion, on different scales of severity, of the participants had an abnormality of pulmonary diffusion 6 months after the onset of symptoms. Most recovered cases have varying degrees of functional restrictions that can range from minor to severe. Conclusion: the educational video of guidelines for elderly people with chronic respiratory diseases is an important technological tool. It provides information that can be used to promote health and prevent complications, favoring patients' autonomy and confidence, as well as a vehicle for transmitting new knowledge. |
