Resumo: In Brazil, research that deals with the representation of information in Archivology is linked to the Postgraduate Programs in Information Science. Despite the approximation of information representation with the functions of description and archival classification, there is a need to understand these relationships in research, aiming at possible directions about the theme. It is proposed to analyze the design of information representation in the context of Archivology, through the theses and dissertations produced in Information Science in Brazil. It discusses Archivology in informational ways and its theoretical-conceptual transformations, demarcating the particularities of the archival document. The representation of information in Information Science and the possible reflexes of the theme in Archivology are highlighted. As for the objectives, this research is classified as descriptive, with a qualitative and bibliographic approach, regarding the data collection procedures. Through a search carried out at the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, 17 studies were obtained distributed in different university programs in the country, analyzing them from Bardin's “Content Analysis”, establishing categories about the characteristic elements in the studies . The representation of information, in Archivology, through the analysis of theses and dissertations in Information Science, in Brazil, is visualized through classification and description, in their thematic or descriptive dimension, now being these activities, now the results of them from classification plans and research instruments. This occurs through interdisciplinary relationships with other areas of knowledge, which helps in actions, such as the identification, analysis and organization of documents in analog or digital environments, with observance of archival principles, as well as documentary characteristics.
