Resumo: The following dissertation arose from the studies of my own creative processes in photography. Those studies are related to the idea of ruins, and will be presented and analyzed under a poetic view. With that in mind, the method of art research was used in parallel to the phenomenology and the theory of creation processes, aiming to observe the selected photografies, creating an interconnection with authors who have studied themes that involve their creation. Among the mentioned themes, the following dualities stand out: memory/oblivion; past/present; death/life. The dissertation was divided in three chapters. In the first, a bridge between the conception of the photografies here exposed and the thoughts about memory of authors such as Bergson (1999), Bachelard (1993), Benjamin (2000), and others, was built in order to elucidate the ideas that permeated their creative processes. The second one, based on Benjamin’s essays about cities and their traces, comprises the ruin concept, associating it to the photografies produced before and during this study. Lastly, in the third chapter, I show a photographic essay that was made to portray the rubbles observed during the time this work was being written.
