Resumo: In this project, multimodality is listed as an active possibility in Educommunication for the mediatization of knowledge, since a good option is to use visual elements to make educational materials increasingly attractive. Based on this context, our general objective is to study the contribution of the insertion of multimodal texts in the teaching learning process in the area of Languages, specifically in the Portuguese language component, with students from the public elementary school system - final years. Therefore, the work will be carried out in two municipal schools, one located in Formigueiro - RS, and the other in São Sepé - RS, and the research has as target audience four classes, respectively from the 7th and 8th grades of Elementary School - grades finals from both schools. The nature of the research is qualitative and uses interviews with two teachers to contribute to the planning of the activity that is developed through a pedagogical intervention in the classroom. A questionnaire was also carried out with the students involved. Data were analyzed using the content analysis proposed by Bardin (2011). As a result, we show that the production of multimodal texts, as a possibility of the educational process of communication in the didactics of teachers, helps in the process of assimilation and criticality of knowledge in the curricular component of Portuguese language. Therefore, education is strictly linked to communication, and relationships are necessary to know and transform realities, often through the form of comparison, as seen positively in the students' correspondence in the texts worked during the lesson plan.
