Resumo: This study is part of the research line on Teaching and Learning in Science and Mathematics, of the Graduate Program in Science and Mathematics Teaching at the Franciscan University, and was based on perceptions about Science and Mathematics Teaching, in an interdisciplinary way, in Basic Education. Therefore, it will serve as an inspiration for teachers to offer students the necessary tools so that they can understand the world, its phenomenon, and transformations, as well as, feel an integral and participatory part of this process. From this, the general objective of this research was delimited, which was to investigate the contributions of a school garden in Science and Mathematics Teaching in the Early Years of Elementary School, with Science and Mathematics teaching as the main focus, to contemplate the ten General Competencies of the National Common Curricular Base. The proposal for a vegetable garden in the school space, used as a didactic learning resource for the Teaching of Sciences and Mathematics, presents itself as an interdisciplinary environment, with concrete motivation for students and mainly a space for carrying out practical activities, allowing relate the theoretical with the practical, that is, the empirical knowledge with the system as a way to build the necessary knowledge so that the student becomes able to understand and intervene in reality, modifying it consciously. The research was developed with students of the fifth year of the Initial Years of an Elementary School in the city of Santa Maria - RS. For its effectiveness, it was sought, in principle, the understanding of the Common National Curricular Base and its General Competencies. Subsequently, from various studies, interdisciplinarity and the teaching of Science and Mathematics were investigated in the Early Years of Elementary School. The organization of activities took place through a didactic sequence that guided the implementation of interdisciplinary actions. The discussions about this teaching resource in the light of the results obtained conclude this dissertation.
