Resumo: |
Pediatric oncology seeks not only to increase the chances of curing the underlying cancer, but also to reduce the consequences of treatment, include the family in the care process, promote autonomy and enable the wishes of the patient and family to positively influence the course of the disease. In this way, the inclusion of children and adolescents undergoing hemato-oncological treatment in palliative care at an early stage favors an expanded perception of the context that the patient and their family find themselves in, makes it possible to reduce suffering, improve prognosis and quality of life. Objectives: Objective of the scientific research: To analyze the perception of the professionals of the multiprofessional health team regarding the demands of the families of children and adolescents undergoing hemato-oncological treatment; Objective of the technological product: To create an informative and interactive e-book that facilitates communication between the family and the multiprofessional health team, with a view to the early adaptation of children and adolescents undergoing hemato-oncological treatment in palliative care. Methodology: A qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study carried out between May 2022 and December 2023. It complied with Conep recommendations. Prior to the scientific research, an Integrative Review of the literature was carried out to support the investigation. Subsequently, the investigative process was conducted with 11 professionals from the multiprofessional health team who work or have worked in the care of children and adolescents undergoing hemato-oncological treatment. Data was collected using the online focus group method and participants were chosen for convenience. Results: The integrative literature review highlighted the need and importance of early initiation of palliative care. Three thematic categories emerged from the data analysis and interpretation process: Family as an integral part of palliative care: from knowledge to self care; Palliative care from the perspective of health professionals: weaknesses in understanding care; Team and family management in consolidating palliative care. The results of the scientific research pointed to the need to develop the product: "Interactive e-book as a facilitating strategy for the promotion of hemato-oncological palliative care in the care of children and adolescents". Final considerations: The experience of the multi-professional team with family members of children and adolescents with cancer needs management attention. In this study, the team's difficulties in communicating with the family about the start of palliative care, knowledge of the importance and benefits when implemented early were noted. It is essential to create public policies that contribute to the implementation of this care, as they facilitate the work processes of the multi-professional team. Product and its applicability: This is an e-book for family members of children and adolescents with blood cancer. The e-book's benefits include providing family members with information on palliative care and guidance in order to include the family as a fundamental part of the care process. In addition, this product can be included in the training of professionals with a view to improving health care. The product fills a gap in the work process of multi-professional teams, specifically in the communication of early palliative care and its importance in the quality of life of this population |
