Resumo: The aim of this study is to investigate the contribution of the thinking of Emmanuel Lévinas to rethink teaching (pedagogical relationship), from the ethical perspective, based on the embrace of otherness, as an inter-human encounter and necessary condition for the development of motivation of knowing; through the approach of notions such as contemporary anti-humanism, ethical rationality, cultures and interculturality and the meaning of the face. This research is characterized by being a theoretical research of bibliographic nature, which proposes the discussion and critique of studies and thoughts already existing and presented by the philosopher Emmanuel Lévinas and through this, the philosophers Husserl and Heidegger, and thus investigate, how one can think the motivation of knowledge, from the postulate of human interrelation and the articulation of concepts of ethics, alterity and teaching present in the philosophical reflection of Emmanuel Lévinas. Before becoming a process or a technical element, teaching is a space of inter-human encounter and it will be through him and in him that dialogue and peaceful coexistence with otherness will develop; Above all, it will be effected through the establishment of an environment conducive to the establishment of effectively inter-human relations.
