Resumo: This dissertation is linked to the Professional Master´s Degree Course of the Post-Graduate Program in Science and Mathematics Teaching from Franciscana University, Science and Mathematics Teaching and Learning research line. In this study, it was investigated the contributions of an interactive comic book, built from elements of the History of Mathematics, in order to teach numbers and their mathematical operations during the first years in the elementary school. The theoretical background of this research arose from the National Curricular Common Base, in addition to authors´ observations over the Mathematics teaching and the use of the History of Mathematics as a teaching resource. As educational product, it was developed an interactive comic book, applied to a third grade group from elementary school. Data was collected by the students’ records, and the analysis of the data was made by using descriptive and interpretive research conception. The results indicated significant contributions on the teaching and learning process of numbers and their mathematical operations by using the interactive comic book, the students have shown interest and motivation during the development of the product; it was possible to notice the increasing progress of knowledge over the subject by working with the materials related to the History of Mathematics (such as abacus, rope knots, working with clay) during the reading of the history and the activities suggested at the end of the material.
