Resumo: |
Introduction: The child diagnosed with oncologic disease goes through numerous changes in its routine: absence from friends, prolonged hospitalizations, high doses of medications that significantly affecting quality of life. Knowing how the child perceives chemotherapy therapy and its coping strategies can determine changes in the planning of actions aimed at the adequate care of their needs. Faced with this, it is believed, that the elaboration of a technological product on the health disease process can facilitate the child’s understanding and maximize their adherence to treatment. Objectives: To know the child oncologic patient’s perceptions about the actions and management in chemotherapy treatment. To elaborate a digital animation film about the pediatric chemotherapy treatment process. Method: Qualitative research conducted in a large hospital located in the inland of Rio Grande do Sul, based on a semi structured interview. Six children were participants, aged between five and twelve years, of both sexes, participated in the sample, and data collection took place between January and May 2020. The data were submitted to thematic analysis. Ethical aspects were followed. The development of the technological product about childhood cancer and chemotherapy therapy, was based on a printed manual already existing in the Hemato oncology sector. The content was updated, the storyboard was elaborated, the scenes were drawn and animated, audio recording and the material was rendered. The media was developed in a multiprofessional field and uses the character Ique, known and admired by children. Media validation followed the criteria of the institution where it was implemented, being evaluated and validated by the Center for Permanent Education in Health, Núcleo de Educação Permanente em Saúde (NEPS). Results: Three thematic categories emerged from the research: perceptions of the child regarding chemotherapy treatment; main challenges pointed out during the child’s stay in chemotherapy treatment; ludicity as an ally in dealing with hospitalization for chemotherapy in children. The digital animation film was submitted to the evaluation and validation of the Nucleus of Permanent Education in Health of the said institution. The video finished with 12 minutes and 22 seconds. Conclusion: It is expected with this technological product, with the use of ludicity, to contribute in the process of coping with cancer and understanding of the child about the importance of chemotherapy, as well as, to potentiate its adherence to treatment. Technical product: “We are your friends - a digital animation movie”; Type: Educational Material; Technical Product Subtlety: other media. The media is aimed at children’s oncology patients and their families. The film will be available on tablets, computers and pen drives in the pediatric oncology sector. The monitoring of the use of educational video will be performed by the researcher and it is estimated that it can be used in the first thirty days of hospitalization after cancer diagnosis. |
