Resumo: The transformation of the agricultural profile in the Legal Amazon was promoted in Brazil, more effectively during the civil-military government. Through several programs and incentive plans there was an intense migration of populations to this region, mainly from the 1970s. In the case of our study, in the state of Mato Grosso, and more specifically in the mid-north region where the Municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde, there was the implantation of what was conceived as agricultural modernization, together with the intensification of the occupation, which took place more intensely after the 1980s, which generated the predominance of agribusiness. Producer of commodities for export, Lucas do Rio Verde has this agricultural standard as hegemonic. Our intention is to understand how and if the implantation of this model was able to consolidate the great and average property in the municipality. Through the oral history method interviewing individuals who lived during the beginning of the occupation of the municipality, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, we sought to understand how the transformation of the agricultural pattern in Lucas do Rio Verde took place, what the results of this Process and in what way, despite being extremely income-generating, cause social inequalities, environmental and health problems, practices related to agribusiness are seen in a positive way by the population of the municipality.
