This Dissertation is about the Automobile`s arrival in Cuiabá. The reason is to understand de reconfiguration of the social, politics and economics practices associated to the progress`s ideas, between 1919 and 1937. The year of 1919 has been chosen because indicates the Bicentennial celebration of Cuiabá city, the foundation of the “Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Mato Grosso”, the first time that electrical energy was used and the removal of the animal traction`s tram that was replaced by the rental car. The year of 1937, by the way, has been chosen because represents the end of a phase, when started the New State and Julio Strübing Müller acted like the auditor, making the process that has transformed Cuiaba into the new Mato Grosso`s capital. In the Contextualization, were identified the motivations about the automobile`s entrance in the daily of one segment of the Cuiabá`s population and the vehicle`s appropriation and representation in the city`s imagery.
