Resumo: In contexts of capital crisis, advancing neoliberalism, expanding social inequalities and mass incarceration, the capitalist state, as an expression of class interests and hegemonically articulated to the interests of the dominant classes, resorts to the discourse of resocialization in an attempt to prevent violence and rebellions in prisons and ensure the permanence of the population superfluous to capital in prison. It is in this scenario that the present study is inserted, whose objective was to analyze labor policies at the federal level aimed at the re-socialization of people deprived of their liberty in the Brazilian prison system in the context of the capital crisis. This is an exploratory study, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The method used was the historical materialist because he understands that it contributes to the unveiling of reality from the apprehension of the real, through its contradictions and its historical development, with social classes as determinants of the places in which groups of individuals historically occupy in the social production process. As technical instruments, documentary and bibliographic sources were adopted. After systematizing the collected data, the results were analyzed according to the theoretical framework adopted. The method used for the analysis was qualitative. The path taken by the research revealed that, starting with the LEP, some initiatives were created by the State in order to re-socialize the inmate through prison work, aiming at their insertion in the post-prison labor market. However, the researched sources demonstrated that the implemented policies have not been able to reach the proposed objective, configuring themselves as very punctual initiatives, evidenced in the low percentage of people inserted in some type of work activity in the prison units and in the precariousness and discontinuity of the services offered. . It was concluded that the State has not been able to change the prison reality in Brazil, aggravated in the current conjuncture by the intensification of the capitalist crisis, by the criminalization of poverty and by the selective punitivism and its control over the bodies of young black men and women residing in the Brazilian peripheries.
