Resumo: The State Public Defender‟s Office is constitutionally bound to provide legal assistance to citizens who cannot afford private attorneys for their legal and judicial affairs. It is an Office that works independently and according to the Constitution of 1988, it is indispensable and permanent. Its main duty is to assure that legal services are free of charge, guaranteeing people‟s rights and their citizenship. The legal services at Mato Grosso State Public Defender‟s Office vary from a high or low level of complexity. The people that make use of the services offered by the institution may encounter difficulties to express what they want, what they think would be the solutions for their demands, for various reasons. The demands might be intertwined with emotional issues of different magnitude, and can also be considered by them as part of the MGSPDO‟s obligation to solve. The objective of this research is to investigate what are the subjective effects felt by the users on the way their demands are met. It is also intended to analyse which dramas originate from the subjective experience of expecting justice through a legal demand. As well as critically evaluate the discursive practices in an institutional context and its effects on the singular subject. Nowadays there are many situations related to social factors, politics, cultural issues, family issues, situations of violence, vulnerability, violation of human rights and conflict that make the subject involved in them to seek the aid of the juridical power. For that reason, we believe that it is of the utmost importance to open spaces where people that have historically suffered from inequality, violence and oppression can speak of how they experience the process of seeking justice to have their voices heard in this different contexts. This research is structured by the psychoanalytical method, and what makes it possible to access the social issues of our time is the transindividual dimension of the singular unconscious. We are beings immersed in a society in a specific historical period. As a member of a culture, the psychoanalytical subject is a system that generates meaning, in which the system that generates a sense of others belonging to a culture in a chain of generations is part of, for the individual subject is always social. From the observations made in the research field, we selected three scenes; out of countless others that somehow affected us, these are considered to be directly linked with our objectives. The data was collected through accompanying users while they were being attended and posteriorly interviews with the users that accepted to be a part of this research. The data from such observations, their recordings and the transcriptions of the interviews were analysed together by the research group. The research “The subject‟s voice in the Mato Grosso State Public Defender‟s Office” is part of productions made by the research group Clinical Psychology and Institutions, focused on the area of “Clinical process and sociocultural contexts” from the Postgraduate Program in Psychology (PPGPsi) of the Federal University of Mato Grosso. It is hoped that the results can help in an understanding of the subjective effects that may have a guidance or solution in the lives of users of community public equipment services, as well as corroborate for a critical thinking about the social, economic and political context of which these users are inserted in order to validate and respect the knowledge that this portion of the population has about themselves.
