Resumo: Workshop (or "faction") is the name popularly attributed to homemade confection, generally with a family structure, installed in homes, which operate on an outsourced basis in view of the flexibilization of the world of work, following production conditions imposed by the garment trade or industry. The precariousness of the world of work, imposed by capitalist modernization, constitutes an interface that problematizes domestic knowledge as a condition for income production and the private space of the home in its transformation into a work space. Technological consumption implies the acquisition of sewing machines and other instruments, which demands the production of new knowledge and skills development. To operate a domestic faction, today, in the condition imposed by modernity, means facing problems related to the condition of gender and dominaing, in addition to technological knowledge, knowledge in the administrative, accounting, juridical, logistical and marketing areas. In the economic system, knowledge of workshop seamstresses is a condition of thought and production in the field of fashion, even in the informality and the precariousness of the production system, such as the lack of specific labor laws that refer to the phenomenon of outsourcing of factions. In this aspect, the communicational dimension of cultural practices is considered, in which information is produced, processed and re-signified as knowledge. The thesis aims to analyze the knowledge of seamstresses in factions in Cuiabá-MT, which includes their subjectivities, precariousness and the technology of the work that involves them. As a methodological resource to extract the necessary information for the construction of the thesis, field research and in-depth qualitative interviews with three seamstresses were used. Starting from the concepts of oral history, the thesis is constructed in a way that make explicit the daily life and the subjective conditions that involve factionists. The thesis proposes an analysis and discussion on the interface between knowledge production and technification processes in the experience of modernization in the clothing sector in the city of Cuiabá-MT. It is an interdisciplinary research, which unites fields of sociology, law, psychology, history and fashion, all centered on cultural studies.
