Resumo: Recently the discussions that permeate the subject addressed in this dissertation, entitled: “URBAN ACCESSIBILITY IN CUIABÁ FOR PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES – PWPD’S: A ROUTE FOR INCLUSION”, where the general objective was to analyze urban accessibility in the old center of the city of Cuiabá, to contact people with physical disabilities for social inclusion and to point out the new possibilities in daily life and leisure activities of the city itself, which are still incipient and unpublished in the Postgraduate Program in Geography of the Federal University of Mato Grosso. In order to reach the general objective, the specific objectives were to show how accessibility conditions interfere in places of the old center of the city, as well as in other points used for daily and leisure activities. It was also necessary to identify the difficulties encountered by people with physical disabilities to accessibility in public and private places; and demonstrate the real possibilities of changes in these places, without any or difficult access, considering points of relevance existing in the city of Cuiabá. The temporal cut was established based on the assumption that the accessibility theme began to be effectively discussed after the enactment of Law Decree Nr. 5.296, of 2004, where it is obliged to make that every place is accessible. The local scale, where the study area is located, is in the old center of the city of Cuiabá and other points relevant to the research. It was structured in 4 chapters, in addition to the Introduction, Final Considerations and Bibliographical References. The methodology was divided into two parts: the first moment is based on the bibliographical researches and, in the second moment, the field research, where the final results were delineated through the interviews, photographic registers, constructed maps, the real transformations in some places and the almost nonexistence in others, in relation accessibility, urban mobility in public and private places, which demonstrate the difficulties of people with physical disabilities in traveling in the city of Cuiabá. In the final considerations we suggest a more critical view of the participation of the citizens in the stages of whatever projects are developed that, directly or indirectly, reach people with disabilities or with reduced mobility in the construction of the city of Cuiabá.
