Resumo: | The mergers and acquisitions that occurred in cattle slaughterhouses in the state of MatoGrosso in recent years raised doubts about the market concentration in the sector due thelarge number of slaughterhouses operating in the state. It is necessary to analyze the market structure in the state, using a VAR painel aplied to an econometric model composed by endogenous variables moving to exogenous, such as: prices, slaughter scale,slaughter and productive capacity, in the period from 2016 to 2019, to conclude if the slaughterhouses have market power. It was concluded in the work that is not possible to affirm the existence of market power in slaughterhouses in the state of Mato Grosso, because as the price and slaughter scale variables are explained bilaterally, on the other hand, there is no slaughter scale explaining the prices as proposed. Therefore, thehypothesis of the existence of market power and oligopsony was rejected. |
