Resumo: | The main objective of the work is to analyze the production of space through the urban restructuring resulting from the 2014 World Cup mega-event and the celebration of the tricentennial of the city of Cuiabá / MT. As well as analyzing the differentiated strategies of the State in the production of urban space, it also seeks to highlight the hegemonic intentions hidden by the occurrences of urban interventions and revitalizations. The homogenization-fragmentation-hierarchical analytical categories contribute to the understanding of the urban restructuring process in the city of Cuiabá. The triad of space production movement is capable of revealing existing codes and serves as an interpretive path for understanding the dynamics that produce and reproduce the space that is in a logic towards the homogeneous, increasingly linked to urban interventions that proposes the transformation of structures and functions for a specific purpose, but at the same time reveals the selectivity of these investments, which ends up fragmenting and hierarchizing the space, promoting a sense of domination. Thus, the city of Cuiabá inserted in the process of capital accumulation presents contradictions that are increasingly exposed between the demands of capital reproduction and the reproduction of life. The work of the VLT (Light Vehicle on Rails) Cuiabá-Várzea Grande will be portrayed here as a class intervention and of a political nature, the modal projected for the city of Cuiabá presents itself as a fragmentary structure of the city since, even if executed, it does not will fulfill its objective and tends to further mark the consumption distance between classes. Through the appropriation of public spaces that commonly occur selectively in contemporary cities, urban interventions through public parks will be presented, which become a strategy for the requalification of areas, giving new meanings and creating symbols and barriers. In this matter, four urban parks in Cuiabá will be highlighted, which present themselves as important equipment in the physical renewal of the city, at the same time, they start to present segregationist content, which is the result of their symbolic content. Thus, the production of space guided by the processes of homogenization and fragmentation produces places that are increasingly hierarchized by economic and political logics, which reduces the place of the lived by the place of exchange. |
