Resumo: Water is configured as one of the main resources for the maintenance of peasant life on earth, so being in Roseli Nunes settlement to their unavailability or quality plays a major challenge in the struggle to stay on the ground faced by peasant families, especially those located in the area of influence of existing carbonate rocks in the territory of the settlement. Covering a total of approximately 129 lots, the main problems faced by families ranging from the purchase of water, difficult to produce, lot sales and evidence of health problems due to consumption of brackish water. Thus from the debate on peasant resistance, this research aims to analyze water availability in the settlement Roseli Nunes influenced by the existing limestone area in the territory of the settlement, as well as the potability of such water compared to standard hardness. The methodology starts from field activities with semi-structured interviews and collecting water samples in the dry and rainy season; laboratory activities with the physico- chemical analysis of samples; and office activities through the development of maps, graphs and tables. Some results indicate that the limestone coverage area, southern settlement, 53% of the batches respondents has brackish water and 9 points water samples analyzed, only conventional well located in batch 324 had hardness concentrations in two climatic periods (season dry and wet) below the maximum allowed by Decree 2,914 / 2011 of the Ministry of Health, 500 mg / L CaCO3. The rest of the samples (stream Lot 323, semi-artesian Social Center 09, semi-artesian well at the Social Nucleus 10, conventional well Lot 195, conventional well Lot 221, semi-artesian well Lot 203 and conventional well lot 211) had hardness concentrations below the maximum allowed in the rainy season, however, in the dry season concentrations exceeded the maximum allowed, making inappropriate water for human consumption in this period.
