Resumo: This research pursued to identify how the dynamics of urban space has been changing under the influence of the deployment of higher education represented here by the University Campus of the Federal University of Mato Grosso. We adopted as a spatial clipping the eastern quadrant of the city of Rondonópolis-MT, where we have been noticing transformation, refunctionalization and revaluation of space, having as its focus on the University Campus and the surrounding neighborhoods Jardim Atlântico and Jardim Europa. As methodology, it was used for literature review theoretical conceptual bibliographical framework, interviews and field work with photographic registration. The primary and secondary data were analyzed in a comparative way and historically contextualized. From them, the analysis consisted in the elaboration of tables containing different time periods, satellite images and maps to check the spatial distribution of events. This procedure seeks to understand how some urban equipment, deployed in strategic points, are improvers of urban growth and how the Campus installation has helped to expand its surroundings. In addition to the action of the landlords, real estate capital and the state themselves became agents of urban expansion. It has also been found that the University Campus modified the social-economical dynamics of the bordering neighborhoods, mainly in Jardim Atlântico and Jardim Europa neighborhoods, especially as a result of federal universities expansion program, which increased the number of vacancies and access to public education , thus attracting a greater amount of students from other regions of the country, contributing to the revitalization of the neighborhoods surrounding the University Campus of Rondonópolis.
