Resumo: ABSTRACT: Introduction: The longevity of women is a remarkable phenomenon that has been occurring in population demographic dynamics. Currently, middle-aged women, aged between 40 and 59, are a generation that has undergone countless changes and were responsible for the struggles and achievements that formed a new social role. Although they live longer, women are the ones who face the most social problems. Studies on Subjective Well-being (SWB), a social indicator that has been used to understand the assessment that people make of their lives and encompasses dimensions of satisfaction with life, positive affects and negative affects, reveals that in addition to knowing the aspects related to health it is important to know those related to the lives of these women. Little has been investigated about the BES of middle-aged women and the factors that are associated with it. Objective: To evaluate the factors associated with BES in middle-aged women seen at a menopause clinic. Methodology: Cross-sectional, analytical study developed with 116 women treated at the climacteric outpatient clinic of the Hospital Universitário Júlio Muller (HUJM), Cuiabá-MT, from March 2015 to March 2020. Data were collected through telephone interviews during the period from October 2020 to January 2021, using a questionnaire with questions about sociodemographic characteristics, health and psychosocial conditions. The prevalence of SWB and its domains, positive affects (APF), negative affects (ANF) and satisfaction with life (SL) was estimated. The mean of the BES, AFP, AFN and SV scores was calculated, according to sociodemographic, health and psychosocial variables. Variables that were associated with a p-value <0.20 were selected for entry into the Poisson multiple regression model with robust variance. Prevalence ratios (PR) and their respective 95% confidence intervals (CI 95) were estimated. %). Results: Most middle-aged women in this study (71.55%) had moderate SBP. The variables that were significant with the SWB were color or race (p≤0.001), leisure habits (p=0.018) and depressive symptoms (p≤0.001), VS was associated with color and race (p≤0.001) and symptoms of menopause (p=0.039) the AFP were associated with family income of two or more minimum wages (p=0.017), and absence of depressive symptoms (p≤0.001), the AFN were associated with the variables severe symptoms of menopause (p=0.006), not having leisure habits (p=0.010), presence of depressive symptoms (p≤0.001) and anxiety symptoms (p=0.040). Conclusion: This research showed that most middle-aged women studied reported a higher prevalence of moderate SWB, which is probably due to the various aspects that permeate these women's lives. The variables that maintained an association with the positive aspects of the SWB (SL and APF) were color and race, menopause symptoms, family income of two or more minimum wages, and depressive signs and symptoms. Regarding ANF, the association was with menopausal symptoms, leisure habits, depressive and anxiety signs and symptoms. These results provide support for a better understanding of women in this age group and the aspects that relate to their lives and health. Furthermore, they point to the need for health professionals to consider the particularities of this stage of life.
