Resumo: | TB / HIV co-infection has increased in the elderly and has been a major challenge for global health. Objective: to analyze the temporal trend of the incidence of TB / HIV coinfection in elderly people in Brazil and regions, from 2008 to 2018. Method: ecological study, of time series, carried out from 2008 to 2018, with all new cases of elderly with TB and positive HIV test, based on information extracted from SINAN. For data analysis, the Prais- Winsten method was used, with a 95% confidence interval and p value< 0.05. The research was approved by the UFMT Research and Health Ethics Committee, under Opinion 3,717,889, of November 21, 2019. Results: in the temporal analysis of the incidence, Brazil showed a stable trend (VPA 2.1) and the Southeast regions decreasing trend (VPA -2.15), Northeast and North increasing trends (VPA 9.92; VPA 10.18, respectively) and South and Midwest stable trends (VPA 0.17; VPA 4.81 respectively) . In Brazil and in the regions, the proportion of HIV testing showed growing trends: Brazil (VPA 12.82), North (VPA 20.46), Northeast (VPA 17.85), Southeast (VPA 10.29), South (VPA 7.11) and Midwest (VPA 6.10). Of the 3213 new cases of TB / HIV co-infection reported during the study period, the majority (68.66%) were male, 78.74% in the 60 to 69 age group, 29.35% with incomplete primary education and brown race (38.93%). As for the clinical form, the majority (72.70%) was of the pulmonary type. Regarding the use of antiretroviral drugs, most (71.59%) were ignored / white. Conclusion: the incidence of TB / HIV co-infection in the elderly population studied showed a stable trend in Brazil, but it was decreasing in the Southeast, increasing in the North and Northeast and stable in the Midwest and South. The results suggest the need for improvement in care health of the elderly, especially in the North and Northeast regions. |
