Resumo: The hybrid methods of teaching the sports together in their units content originated from different pedagogical proposals, with the aim of developing with higher quality the capacities of participants (tactics and techniques). In this context, the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) does not present in your content to methodological development cycle of motor coordination (MC). Therefore, the present study sought to add to this method specific handball mode CM, since the development of technical skills is directly related to your development. The study verified the level of motor coordination, the tactical-technical capacity and the students' perception of competence after the application of two programs intervention by the TGfU method and the TGfU added to the contents of the specific motor coordination (TGfU + MC). The sample composed of 43 subjects, aged 14 to 15 years (14.3 ± 0.46), divided into two groups (G1 - TGfU and G2 - TGfU + MC), both of which received a didactic unit of 20 class sessions. The results showed that the categorization confirmed the teaching method employed and after the intervention there was a significant improvement of MC in both groups and sexes, with size of effect (ES) great for motor quotient, from 0.611. Considering the game performance, general ability score tactical-technical, only the males has improved in both groups, however with ES major to the G2 (0.610) and medium for the G1 (0.487). Considering the time to effect the perception of competence, there was improvement in behavioral competence for both sexes in G2 (p = 0.050). As the analysis between groups did not significantly statistical difference after the intervention for any of the variables of the study. By correlating the perception of competence and MC found in the post-test strong correlation between the jump and the physical competence monopedal for females (r = 0.788). By correlating the perception of competence and tactical-technical capabilities, found in the post-test strong correlation between the support index and the behavioral competence for females (r = 0.768). It is concluded that the employed method is capable of contributing to the development of the analyzed capacities, since there was a gradual increase of the medians for the two experimental groups. However, the MC insertion was not able to achieve the desired effects in raising the students' technical ability level.
