Resumo: Agrarian reform is one of the points of great sensitivity from the social and productive perspectives that, when combined with environmental issues in the Amazon, must become an important point in the agenda of public policies for the sector. Thus, the objective of this study was to analyze the influence of social and productive factors on income generation in rural settlements in the Mato Grosso Amazon region. The study was based on an applied social research, with the collection of economic, social and productive data of 48 rural properties, through a structured questionnaire, plus field observations. The properties were sampled by typicity, considering land use in the following modalities: land use for grain production, rental of area for grain production by third parties, and sustainable land use, with agricultural production plus non-timber reservation area. The results showed that there is a difference in the social profile due to the main agricultural activity of the property and that the income obtained in each one of the activities is also influenced by the productive activities studied. It can be concluded that the type of agricultural activity developed in the property leads the rural settler to depend on extra income, such as: renting their area to third parties, work outside the property, as well as the assistance of government social programs, a fact that should impel more broad discussions on public policies that support the beneficiaries of the agrarian reform program after receiving land.
