O atendimento no Núcleo de Defesa das Mulheres da Defensoria Pública de Mato Grosso : uma análise quanto às experiências das assistidas

The present essay is aimed at learning about the assistance provided by the Woman’s Defense Center what’s called Núcleo de Defesa das Mulheres da Defensoria Pública do Estado de Mato Grosso – NUDEM –, which in defense of the Human Rights of Women, aims to support women victims of violence. To this end, we interviewed women assisted by NUDEM who agreed to answer the questions related to the study. The women who answered the questionnaire received their first assistance between the years 2019 and 2021, because one of the purposes of the research was to find out how the center’s assistance had been during the COVID-19 pandemic period. Ten collaborators participated, and, to this end, semi-structured interviews were conducted with women who had experienced some form of violence and used the service. The methodology approach used was qualitative, based on the principle of self-ethnography, since the researcher presents some of her professional experience. The content presents a summary of the history of NUDEM in Brazil, as it is a part of the history of the Public Defender’s Office. Feminism in Marxist, decolonial and black aspect was used as a theoretical reference for the research, to understand the ills that permeate the women assisted by NUDEM. It was concluded that they yearn for a lot of information and are very grateful for the service provided by NUDEM. The research made it possible to discover that the center, despite the great dissemination already done, is not enough for them to know about the service offered. The interviewees answered spontaneously, and in their speeches the words tranquility, welcome, safety, and protection are feelings that were expressed.
