Resumo: The object of this work is the study of sustainability in light of the ecological integrity and of the buen vivir, under the optics of a Brazilian Environmental Constitution, offering a panoramic analyses of agribusiness in our state and pointing out the challenges to its sustainable development. It sought to contextualize the problem of the non sustainability in time, before the dichotomy preservationism X conservationism, with the analysis of the main environmental meeting and documents. Through inductive and deductive methods, findings and numbers that refer to the Mato grossense reality concerning agribusiness and livestock were presented. Through descriptive and bibliographic research, it was intended to deepen the discussion of the sustainability principle and its relation to precaution, prevention and commom, but differentiated responsabilities principles, existencial minimum, environmental justice and the ecological function of property. It was verified that inside the mato grossense reality that agribusiness and livestock have been making our state leader in national ranks of deforestation and utilization of fertilizers and pesticides. It was identified contradictions to the analyzed principle due to “modernization” proposition by agribusiness and the implantation of the latest technology with repercussion on small farmers and family farming. The established challenge is to combine the sustainable development to a new concept, through cooperation of all society’s participants in a concrete effort to make agriculture and livestock “greener”, with concrete atittude and paradigma change before the environmental problem
