In this work, a proposal on matrix applications using graph theory is presented, a didactic sequence will be shown that is accessible to teachers and students, making possible a new methodology for the teaching of matrices in basic education. In order to elaborate this sequence, it is chosen to introduce and present the teaching of matrices using graph theory in a contextualized way, using geometric and algebraic arguments. This process resulted in a possible restructuring in the methods of teaching of matrices, offering to the student a meaning of their daily life, seeking to relate with the content addressed by the teacher. According to the applied methodology, the students were able to clearly understand the resolutions of the problems generating a pattern of learning mathematical contents in a real and positive way.
