Resumo: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of gold nanoparticle in the inhibition of inflammation in osteoarthritis, testing the experimental model of osteoarthritis through the sectino of the cranial cruciate ligament in mice. Using histopathology to determine the degree of injury to the cartilage tissue . Were used in the experiment twenty-seven mice (Mus musculus) males between eight and twelve weeks of life, divided into three groups of three animals each, treated with nanoparticles in two different concentrations (360 mg ( T1 ) and 460 mg ( T2)) and three different periods (15 (PI), 30 ( PII) and 45 ( PIII) days after the induction of OA), and a control group for each time three rats each. 14 days after surgery the animals were again anesthetized and underwent intra-articular treatment with gold nanoparticles. After treatment, the animals were euthanized. The samples were extracted from each compartment joint, processed, embedded in paraffin and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. The histological slides were evaluated by compartment S1 and S2 and the portion of the femoral portion of the tibia , according to the criteria established by Mankin et al. (1971). As a result of the way they refer to score1, score 2 total score and the results show that there is significant interaction between Time and Concentration (p-value> 0.05), and there is no difference between times (pvalue> 0 , 05). However, there was significant difference between the concentrations (p-value <.05). However it was observed that need to further studies and evaluations to prove the efficacy of anti-inflammatory nanoparticle as well as studies of long-term side effects.
