Resumo: | The objective of this study was to evaluate whether prolonged exposure to different concentrations of the herbicide Roundup®, whose active ingredient is Glyphosate, could alter behaviors of anxiety and fear in zebrafish (Danio Rerio), measured through the Light/Dark, Novel Tank and Anxiety Evoked by the Alarm Substance tests. For this, 158 adult zebrafish (Danio Rerio) were used (n = 158), distributed in 3 groups of 40 and a group of 39 animals. The animals went through an exposure period of 15 days before 0,0 μL,1,7 μL, 27 μL e 270 μL, and were subsequently exposed to behavioral testing. The results indicate that prolonged exposure to Roundup® was not able to change the emotional fear responses measured by the tests, but it may be associated with an attenuation of anxiety in the Light/Dark test in the group exposed to the highest concentration, 270 μL. Thus, the results found point to the importance of further studies to evaluate the effects of exposure to HBGs in non-target species, especially those that combine different investigation methods, such as biochemical and histological in association with behavioral measures. |
