Violência sofrida e exercida por estudantes adolescentes de Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brasil : condições de vulnerabilidades e consequências

Resumo: Introduction: Adolescence is a period of transformation, in which the teenager is exposed to conditions of vulnerabilities as well as situations of violence, both as victim and aggressor. Intentional violence that occurs primarily among adolescents, has been recognized as an important health problem, mainly due to its consequences. Aims: Describe the conditions of vulnerabilities and consequences of violence suffered and / or exercised by adolescents enrolled in high school in the public Cuiaba-MT in 2012. Methods: A cross-sectional study, developed in public schools in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, with high school teenagers. The data processed by the Epi-Info, were obtained through a closed questionnaire. Results: Between 2,786 surveyed, 44.4% were in a situation of violence, in which 16.4% were just victims, 12.0% aggressors only, and 16.0% have experienced both the condition of victims as offenders, predominating physical violence and bullying. As regards the conditions of vulnerabilities, 44.1% of those who suffered violence consume alcohol and 5.5% drugs. Regarding alcohol consuming distilled beverages, in party at the home of friends, getting excited when they drink, with beginning of consumption at 16-17 years old, stood out in all situations of violence. Regarding drugs, consume every once in a while, start the consumption because a friend offered, being the most consumed drug marijuana, mainly because they like and to get rid of the problems, beginning at the age of 16-17 years old, prevailed in all situations of violence. The uncles were family members who consume alcohol and/or drugs. Among the 44.4% were involved in situations of violence, there were no physical consequences at 16.0%, with a physical handicap in 5.5%. Adolescents with physical consequences were characterized by a predominance : physical violence ( 57.1 % ) , male ( 52.0 % ) , aged 16-17 years ( 54.0 % ) , mixed race ( 45.4 % ) , injury and damage caused ( 49.0 % ) , being the head and neck ( 30.8 % ) to the body part most affected . There were cases of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases among those who have experienced sexual violence . There was psychological consequences in 12.0 % of those who have gone through situations of violence , with a predominance of : physical violence ( 27.1 % ) , female ( 64.1 % ) , aged 16-17 years ( 55.0 % ) and mulattos ( 46.8 % ) , depression being the most common psychological consequence ( 27.9% ) . When asked if the diagnosis of emotional harm was done by a professional or by the adolescents themselves felt , 19 ( 12.8% ) of those who suffered , 5 ( 16.1% ) of those who exercised and 28 ( 17.4% ) who suffered / exerted violence reported that the diagnosis was made by a professional in the area , while others 96 ( 64.9 % ) of those who suffered , 15 ( 48.4 % ) of those who exercised and 92 ( 57.1 % ) who suffered / exercised , reported that concluded that the grievance felt by. Conclusions: The study highlights the need for integrated actions among school, health services, society and family as ways of preventing this phenomenon, and intervention and assistance services that minimize the consequences of the teenagers who experience situations of violence.
