Resumo: The objective of this study was to analyze technical and economic activity of the main transport of wood in plantations of Tectona grandis L.f in the State of Mato Grosso, using the self - loading tractor. The analysis included a study of motion and time, the economic analysis calculating the operating cost of transport. The study was conducted in Campina Farm, owned by the company Teak in Brazil located in the district of Pirizal, City of Nossa Senhora do Livramento (MT). Adopted the simple random sampling, was conducted a pilot study of the operating cycle of the main transport of wood to set the number of observations required to provide a maximum sampling error of 5% and a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that the element consumed most of the total cycle time was operating loading, with 58% with an average operating efficiency found from 20.77 m³ / hour. The cost of fuel was the item that most contributed to the formation of total operating costs with 22% and the value of the total operating cost was estimated at R $ 57.72 / hour.
