Resumo: This work presents data analysis of facies, heavy minerals and sedimentary petrography of cretaceous rocks in the Cambambe basin, deposited on a system of alluvial fans between the Santonian and Maastrichtian floors at a paleoenvironment of dry and hot climate. Four paleoenvironment were interpreted: debris flow, turbulent flow collapse, canal filling and Paleoenvironment of paleosol. The sedimentary succession is divided by a discordance between the Ribeirão Boiadeiro and Cambambe formations. This discordance is also noted at the petrography - while litharenites and carbonate horizons (calcretes) constitute the Ribeirão Boiadeiro formation, the Cambembe formation is composed by quartz arenites and sublitharenites. The change in outline implicates in change of tectonic control and in alterations of the share of contribuiton of each source area. It is noteworthy that there is direct relationship between the rocks and volcanism of the Paredão Grande formation at the basis of the bay while not at the top of the rocky formation. Grains in the fine sand and very fine sand fractions were described, while opaque minerals, alterites, staurolites, andalusites, tourmalines and distena, zircan, granada, green hornblende, apatite, rutile, calcica, monazite, anastasium, cianite and titanite were identified. Different levels of alteration and corrosion were described for these minerals. The predominant diagenetic processes in these rocks are related to eodigenesis, as the bay has temperatures predominantly below 80°C. The bay development is associated to reactivations connected to the Transbrazilian Lining and the formation of a sistem of grabens and horsts in the Alto Garças platform.
