Resumo: This work presents a research where the objective was to investigate the experimentation in basic education and to elaborate an educational product to contribute in the teaching and learning of concepts of Chemistry from the extraction of essential oils. The investigations for the elaboration of the educational product began with a long bibliographical research, which started from an epistemological basis for a better understanding about the interactions between the subject and the phenomenon, advanced on a theoretical reference of learning based on a conception of learning Active research on experimental science teaching for a better understanding of experimental activities in this school context involved chemical knowledge about the essential oils that were needed to produce the educational product until the case study on experimentation and evaluation Of the material produced. The case study involved as chemistry teachers in the city of Cuiabá, crowded in 2016, in schools of the State Basic Education Network of the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil. This research aimed to investigate the experimentation in the school contexts where the subjects were inserted and to evaluate the material elaborated regarding their contributions to the teaching and learning of concepts of Chemistry in basic education. The research work culminated in a Didactic Guide called "Extraction of Essential Oils: Didactic Sequence to provide Learning of concepts of Chemistry" and an "Experimental Kit" that consists of alternative materials for extraction of essential oils by steam drag. From the results presented in the evaluation the educational product is ready to contribute in the teaching practice of the professor of Chemistry, in favor of the quality of teaching and learning of Chemistry through experimentation.
