Resumo: | This research approach aims to discuss the content of regular polygons inscribed in the circumference contained in mathematics textbooks in the 9th grade of elementary school evaluated and cataloged by the National Textbook PNLD/2011. We decided to analyze this content after preliminary studies on the history and teaching of geometry in mathematics textbooks, a survey of research produced in graduate programs in Brazil that address geometry in mathematics textbooks of elementary school, and discussions at the Study Group on mathematics textbooks for the program's Graduate UFMT. Relying on these aspects, we define our research question, namely: "to articulate mathematical organizations and organizations of the didactic content of regular polygons inscribed in the circle proposed in mathematics textbooks in the 9th grade of elementary school?".To answer this research question, we turn to the Anthropological Theory of Didactics (TAD) of Chevallard, being a theory that has been used in the analysis of the content contained in mathematics textbooks, and yet, by situating the study of mathematics within the social institutions and educational systems, enabling the relationship between subject and institution-know in order to understand the development of mathematical concepts and procedures. The methodology decided by qualitative research with phenomenology, it is a process of reflection methods and techniques for the detailed understanding of the phenomenon being investigated. We collected data and/or documents, the time of acquisition of the six mathematics textbooks in the 9th grade of elementary school, which will be part of the corpus of documentary research. The study shows that these books explore the subject of research with application of different types of tasks.
