Resumo: |
This research is located within the framework of theoretical studies in journalism and focuses on the socio-environmental theme to investigate the construction of journalistic frames by the newspaper Correio do Estado, based in Campo Grande/MS, one of the oldest and most important journalistic vehicles in the Central-Western region of Brazil. The empirical sample includes publications published by the newspaper between January 2012 and December 2022 on socio-environmental issues related to the Serra da Bodoquena, a region rich in biodiversity located in the southwest of Mato Grosso do Sul. The corpus was compiled by searching for the keyword “Serra da Bodoquena” in the digital collection of the newspaper, which resulted in 104 previously identified journalistic articles, 25 of which were analyzed because they fit the research topic. The hypothesis of this study is based on the premise that the complexity of Serra da Bodoquena's socio-environmental issues is little explored by the newspaper. The analysis identifies twelve cores of problems addressed by the newspaper. Among the main conclusions is that the solutions proposed in the journalistic frames constructed by Correio do Estado are of a one-off nature, presented episodically from the moment the problems come to light. There is also a lack of journalistic frames that point to complex discussions about the causes and longterm consequences of the problems identified, such as deforestation, the depletion of springs and the turbidity of rivers. |
