Resumo: The current research focuses on the central theme of public policies on drugs in urban municipal schools in the city of Corumbá-MS. Regarding its methodology, it is characterized by document analysis and by being a qualitative and quantitative research, whose data collection was carried out through a structured questionnaire. This questionnaire aimed to investigate the contact, or lack thereof, of students from 5th to 9th grade of 14 urban schools in the municipality of Corumbá with drugs, to assess which public policies are being implemented on this topic. The theoretical framework covers topics ranging from primary versus secondary socialization, schools and their temporal evolution and family interaction, to a brief history of the drug route in the world until reaching our city. Choosing this theoretical framework allows understanding the changes in society and the role developed by the school institution over the years, in addition to defining what it is responsible for today. The results were analyzed based on the students' responses to the questionnaire from the Educational Action Practices program of the Municipal Education Department. With this questionnaire, it was possible to assess the behavior of students in relation to drugs and understand to what extent the family, or its absence, contributes to the increasing number of young people starting drug use, as well as how this contact influences their future projection. Indeed, it can be stated that the research revealed the sad reality that there is no cohesive and efficient public policy in the municipality capable of reversing this situation.
