Resumo: |
The objective of this dissertation is to understand the motivations that led the electorate to vote for and identify with the Senate candidate Soraya Vieira Thronicke in 2018. To understand how voters choose a candidate, it was necessary to establish a context between political anthropology and politics itself. Subsequently, the behavior of voter choice is presented, along with the possible collective and individual influences that can serve as motivation to justify this vote. As this is a study of a campaign conducted by a woman, it is essential to show the barriers and adversities faced by women when running for political office. The Senator's life story, along with her electoral campaign, needed to be carefully demonstrated, as understanding the electorate's identification with the Senator necessitated showing how she presented herself to these voters in her campaign. Fieldwork initially involved conducting virtual and in-person interviews with the candidate's voters. However, due to the time elapsed between the elections and the interviews, both the voters and the Senator herself underwent changes in their political stances and positions, which hindered the research. Therefore, comments were collected from the Senator's social media platforms during the 2018 electoral campaign, both on Facebook and Instagram. These comments were subjected to data analysis using the Iramuteq system, with the aim of identifying the reasons that led voters to vote for the Senator, as expressed in their comments, and extracting relevant patterns. |
