Resumo: Annually in Brazil are reported approximately 40.000 deaths by traffic accident. For this reason the World Health Organization (WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, 2012) launched the Global Decade of Action for Road Safety in 2011. As Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul state, is one of the Brazilian capitals with the highest rate of violence in traffic, the aim of this study was to collect the perspective of traffic accident victims occurred in the town. A database was developed to include information from the data collection form containing the variables of interest in the study. The collected data was processed and analyzed by descriptive statistics and used in tables according to the variables. Most victims were young adults, motorcyclists, moreover, they were using personal protective equipment at the time of the accident. A significant percentage of the path of traffic accidents was found. The results of this study serve as aids to the department responsible directly or indirectly for the traffic in Campo Grande, in addition to guide the actions of educational measures, supervision, continuous training of professional pre-hospital and hospital care and to stimulate the development of workers' health department.
